Support the St. Thomas Standard

Do you have relatives, friends or acquaintances who feel like they are the lone conservative voice in their college classrooms? They are not alone! Students at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota are actively seeking to reverse the trend toward liberal bias on college campuses.

We have created a powerful venue for students of all viewpoints, particularly from the silent conservative majority, to be heard and acknowledged on campus!

The St. Thomas Standard is printed quarterly and distributed to the St. Thomas community. It has received much attention from students, professors and staff at St. Thomas. Many have expressed their gratitude for the new venue of thought that it has created.

It is evident that the issues covered in the paper have hit home with many students and provoked passionate commentary and debate from others. Initially, there were a few students violently opposed to diversity of opinions on campus; these students went so far as to throw large stacks of the paper in the campus recycling bins!

The paper is staffed entirely by volunteers.

Our writers have broached campus-related topics, such as liberal biases in the Political Science Department’s assigned texts, student anti-war demonstrations and the overwhelming trend on the part of the St. Thomas Lectures Committee to bring liberal speakers to campus. The St. Thomas Standard also addresses more national topics like taxes, feminism, abortion, and national defense.

We do more than just publish a newspaper: Our group has written letters to U.S. troops, organized rallies to support the life of the unborn, distributed pins and posters in remembrance of former President Reagan, and created Christmas ornaments for Pearl Harbor Veterans. Every fall, we kick the school year off with our annual “Remembering September 11” event, where we distribute flags and patriotic materials to students at St. Thomas.

Beyond distributing the newspaper and organizing patriotic student activities, our third main goal is to bring more conservative speakers to campus.

Since 2003, the St. Thomas Standard has made great strides towards long-term success.

Your donation to the St. Thomas Standard will help insure the lasting success of the St. Thomas Standard in both print and electronic format. Most importantly, however, your generous contribution will foster growth in the conservative movement on college campuses in Minnesota.
